AHL will consider any house that has character and is likely to be rentable. Normally this would mean a good location, indoor toilets, some garden space and the possibility of a comfortable kitchen. This short list of requirements is harder to fill than you might think because, in the lowland areas of Laos, the family property is often divided among the children. Many older houses have one or more houses crowded into the garden. It is hard to explain to some property owners that their land is worth more if the small houses are torn down.
